Post-Digital Memory Fragments, 2021-2022.
CNC carved MDF, Blue Polyurethane Foam.  Size varies.

An abstraction of digital and analog memory - the images of landscapes and familiar or unfamiliar scenes are preserved through the robotic translation of a captured moment into a physical media.

Where does the idea of digital longevity, of immortalizing the thoughts and experiences of modern mankind that exist behind the structure of much of modern technological development and data collection, find itself when a modern hard drive only has a lifespan of 30 years before file corruption?  Where does this place our record in the realm of geological time, of cosmic time?  What will be left once cloud data storage networks are no longer maintained?

This work seeks to engage with this dilemma through the physical manifestation of memories trapped to the digital realm via contemporary robotic processes.  Some of the oldest remaining artifacts of early human society exist in the carved bas reliefs that decorate ancient shrines and temples, and perhaps it is to this form of record-keeping we should seek to immortalize our record of the now.
